Constitution Creates People-hood

People-hood is the concept basic to a constitution which defines democracy and identifies itself to be the lighthouse and the beacon of light for a happy and meaningful life of a human being on the planet . People are the declared owners of the State’s resources , institutions and wealth  of any kind – be it material , natural or surrealistic .People are the beneficiaries of a constitutional system of governance .

By such a clear-cut statement spelt out in the Preamble itself , the Constitution of India at once becomes sacred and vital to the very existence of a citizen ,whatever be his or her station ,status and calling in life . Self-governance is thus the theme of such a people-oriented Constitution .

People-hood is as a result the essence of  all actions taken by the State as well as by any other person in the society . ‘Creative democracy’  is the never ending process of interpreting the provisions contained in the constitution for its implementation and successful attainment of the avowed objects of equality ,social ,economic and political .Whatever be the nature of the functions discharged by the various organs of the State and however difficult be the external factors the country’s government faces, it has to forever ensure the maintenance of equality , fraternity and liberty enshrined in the constitution. Thus ,it is called the fountain-house of human rights and license for recognition of human beings as very exalted creatures of Nature. 

Natural rights, legal rights and personal rights have been defined as fundamental to the person of an individual in the society .Irrespective of the economic ,social or geographical circumstances into which a person is born , citizens have every right to enjoy equality , liberty and justice on all fronts of life. 

Constitution knits the fabric of liberty ,justice, equality and fraternity amongst the fellow citizens to foster peace, understanding, truth , love, compassion, tolerance, accommodation and develop a sense of amity, unity and integrity in one and all. In the result, human rights and fundamental duties would help in enforcing the constitutional guarantee of a civilized and decent lifestyle for everybody in the country.

Constitution weds the entire set of people of the country to aim at an overall welfare and development which it says can be achieved only by a conscious burying of  evil and destructive forces such as lust,jealousy,hatred,violence,revenge,terror,war,plundering,looting,murder – all of which have been identified as criminal offences against both the People and the State which governs them. Unless these are blotted out into oblivion, the very citadels of human civilizations would be eroded and wiped out of history and existence of man would be a thing of the past .

People-hood is not a concept but the structure and edifice of  the constitution. All laws are aimed at the welfare and well-being of all citizenry .There should be no bad law or wrong action if natural rights and principles of justice were to prevail .People are the sole proprietors of a constitution. Constitution is the guardian of the life, property and personage of each and every individual of the society.

People-hood is a collective responsibility not merely of the State but of every citizen too.

Nobody is alienated or differentiated upon as all are equal .Equitable distribution of natural resources, adequate opportunity for everyone and non-discrimination of  people is the objective of people-hood. Since all of mankind is born in a like manner but their station in life is different ,the constitution confers upon them the ladder to equality and equal treatment in life. Equality of law and equality in law are  the pedestals upon which all other tenets of law are formulated based upon the directives comprised in the constitution.

People-hood is the epitome of a democracy .All the more so in case of Indian constitution  having regard to the state which emerged after centuries of colonial rule, imperial hegemony and tragedies of two world wars in the twentieth century. Cold war animosities and a hatred which was fostered and foisted upon all humanity caused never-ending battles for a domination among the chieftains of cultures, religions, philosophies, ideologies and ‘isms’.

People-hood is exploration of the real progress of mankind by exploding myths of grand achievements of few men through domination, exploitation, war, force, illegal control and wrongful means .It exposes the illusion of materialism ,delusion of unlimited wealth and power fulfilling the insatiable greed of individuals and societies and shattering the inflated ego of vain fame .

People-hood is opposite of the craving of  Hannibal [the Hun] , Alexander[the great],Napoleon or Hitler who all aimed at conquering and subjugation of life of people .So, people-hood arrests the destructive impulses, tendencies and all other enemies of civilized living inside the mind and heart of every human being .

People-hood is the emergence of  the common masses of people. As opposed to a totalitarian state is the ‘peopleitarian’ state under system of a people-hood. An entire population would be enlightened on account of education becoming deeply rooted and indispensable for one and all.

People-hood is committed to peace, understanding, truth, love and the towering superiority of words thereby upholding the eternal duties of man and woman. It recognizes the ultimate and divine right of life to everybody.
