Chained in Inferiority
By – Pamarty Venkataramana
Chained in inferiority complex: several decades after.
Yet,the curse shadows the land of caste-based reservations and according of preferential-treatment for minority-religions.
Is it indeed an inferiority-complex?
Or, perennial unending superiority-complex?
Was it short-sightedness? L
Or,a blatant instance of cheerleaders propping up a poster-boy for posterity?
If Aurangzeb was a devout Muslim stitching caps and penning the Quran, who was conquering lands in his guise and form?
So also if such a gigantic work of voluminous proportions could have been authored by only one, lone ‘suit-boot member’ of the Constituent Assembly, what were all those others who had appointed him as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee?
Be that as it may,if this one-man army had prescribed a definite ten-year transitional period for the ‘special treatment’ to be accorded to few listed castes, why is a dictatorial action of extending it perpetually not being frowned upon by even the absolute majority government of the day?
And,worser yet, compounded by a another add-on called OBC-categorisation further derailing the ‘equality before law and all laws be equally applied’ declaration of the sacred Preamble to much-amended Constitution of ‘India, that is Bharat’!
Ambedkar Ji embraced Buddhism which encourages adherents to renounce worldly possessions.
How many of the millions of self-declared Ambedkarite groups have renounced privileges of caste-based reservation and converted to Buddhism ?
Not one person?
How many of those who rose up socio-economic ladder as top bureaucrats and parliamentarians got their children wedded off to other poorer sections in society?
What is the relevance of such differentiation of people and discrimination among citizens after seven decades of growth among the said strata in a 145 + billion strong nation?
Weed out the phenomenon of inferiority-complex led reservations?
How?
When each and every political outfit is hankering after garnering the forty-five percent votes of the chiselled community of Free India,is this sounding like an utopian ideal?
The answer lies in generating more and more jobs to turn the bogey of reservations into a meaningless, redundant one.
Soon enough, the blue-suited,red tie, bespectacled Committee-Chairman would be as often remembered as the loin-clothed Father of the nation who first coined the term – Harijan before the Dalit name-card came to become popular ever since an ex-bureaucrat from Punjab fell into a fairy-tale love-affair with a ex-teacher from Hari nagar at Delhi and the duo were sheltered by the man who let Mandal Commission Report burn a whole nation of harmonious peoples.
History is a witness and cannot remain muted forever.
Meritocracy and Employment generation are alone going to enable our vision of carving a qualitative #NewIndia.
Shed the complexes. Building statues of Ambedkar Ji or Vallabhai Patel Ji would not alleviate the lifestyle of downtrodden and ostracised : today, meritorious class has turned into being dubbed the oppressed class.
End all prejudice. Carve a happy society of equal citizens. The alpha generation will rebel against inequities of the status-quo.
Arise India
Enforce statutes; not erect statues.
A #NewIndia beckons.
