Checkmate the Devil
By- Pamarty Venkataramana
Evil stalks. Cruelty smiles. Mafia rules.
Accidental leaders falter. Failed ones whine.
Womenfolk suffer still : domestic violence, workplace harassment, hapless rural girls, exploited urban Stree, et all.
Rising number of unemployed menfolk.
Failed youth – wayward, astray, falling victims to fatal addictions including drugs, political harakiri, apps-led weddings.
Once upon a time, not many decades ago, a marriage was an event which unified both family members and relatives and blessings were glowing abundantly.
With fallen societal mores, a wedlock is more or less an isolated affair with a lot of chest-thumping and tears : a total opposite of a happy affair replete with myriad ceremonial functions which all resulted in a cumulative bonding.
Families helped united minds and souls. Homogeneity of caste and religion led to uniformity of practices.
But alas, today in guise of progressive thought and propelled by rebellious generations swayed largely by propaganda of vested interests, India gasps for the ushering in of an Uniform Civil Code.
For, unless such a law is passed, the peril of Centre-State ties under a Federal structure of governance turning into a mammoth virus looms large.
Especially as the transparent twin-agenda of political opportunism and raking up a M versus H card is only helping increase the popularity of fanatical prop-up leaders. An ominous trend.
Lawyers and Judges who had burnt the midnight oil to rescue a patriot under the Law, from fangs of mischievous charges in court-battles feel saddened at the poor draftsmanship exhibited by the Farm Bills since these expressly exclude the right of taking recourse to Courts in the event if any dispute arising from an agriculturist’s transactions with Corporate Buyers of their produce.
This is the Achilles Heel of the much adored Modi Government.
Since it has come to public knowledge that foreign anti-India forces are indulging in blatant interference with internal affairs of our Nation, it is only fair and reasonable to withdraw the unhappily worded Acts and refer it to a select Committee of the Parliament. Such a measure is not to be viewed as a defeat but as a Checkmate.
As important is to stop the innocuous publicity being accorded to a Trustee of the opposition Party’s Rajiv Gandhi Foundation since he had chaired an Expert Committee Report in a pre-Covid era.
What is required is to appoint another Expert Committee with the very focus and objectives with which the S-nathan Committee had been formed, long years ago.
Egotism must not mar the rise of a tall leader into becoming a Statesman.
It will only be in fitness of things for Honourable President of India to counsel the incumbent Government of India to take the above two steps in national interest.
India must also have a full fledged Union Cabinet Minister of Internal Security, whose role is as important as that of the Union Defence Minister.
Any talk of a #NewIndia can carry sense only when partisanship, ignorance, innocence, wickedness, cowardice and lust for power can be collectively subjugated to the higher cause of One Indian Nation – undivided by divisions created by slaves of Castes, Religions and Regions.
If Pakistan is only ugly scar on face of the Modern Indian Nation, the gross injustice being meted out by a collapsed Criminal Justice System and unbridled Mass Media are largely responsible for erosion of public confidence, in established Institutions of the Constitution.
The dirge of the martyrs’ heirs lends inspiration to the Nation’s billion active minds.-to become resilient, to boycott parties that lay seige to public roads, to goad upon the top leadership of the country to shun egoistic approach and bow to the mass sentiments of affected parties
No agitation must be allowed to happen and if at all it happens, such an agitation ought not to be allowed to escalate.
Bharat Bandhs, Hartals and roadblocks are abhorrent to the spirit of a Nation that fought against tyranny by foreigners. It is shameful to fight amongst ourselves.
India is a blessed land cursed to be governed by marked non-accountability of Bureaucracy, guiding Politicians who suffer from an inferiority-complex on account of nil OR lesser educational qualifications vis a vis babudom.
Add to it, the nominated system of appointing venerable Judges to High Courts and the Apex Court and the situation is compounded.
The seemingly endless list of woes afflicting our great Nation is in fact as simple as the breaking of the Gordion Knot.
How?
1. Create more and more jobs in order that caste reservation system ceases to perennially widen the wedge between sections of the society. Besides, the syndrome of Brain Drain can be halted.
2. Rein in the unbridled Press and Mass Media.
3. Stop giving credence to Virtual Governance as an option to rule hearts of real people that comprise Indian Nation.
4. Introduce a Bill in the absolute majority Parliament to usher in an Uniform Civil Code.
5. Stop publicising the Terror-State in our backyard. Do pest-control in silence, efficaciously.
The land of Maharishis, Sages, Munis, Scholars and Freedom fighters ought not to let weakling political beasts deprive the right to qualitative life for the present generation. The future citizens are secured only if we act right, here and now, when all world is at the crossroads of recovery from deadly Covid19 virus.
