The Witches’ Brew
By – Pamarty Venkataramana
Fairy-tale stories of growth from rags-to-riches in the business-arena are riddled with many a conundrum. Sharp practices, cocktail parties and pulling a fast one on the systems in vogue are characteristic features of all such poster- heroes and heroines around open societies.
The source of their income or sudden, meteoric rise to riches is never questioned until the status quo ante is brought about by a disgruntled element or greedy cog in the wheel. But,when it does, all best-laid plans come tumbling down like a pack of playing-cards.
The stamping of a fox’s tail turns many a wily jackal into a roaring lion of power and pelf. All kowtow to wealth,be ill-gotten or acquired through other means including through inheritance, gift or windfall gains.
However, there comes a time when the witches’ brew gets stirred and curtains come down on all hunky dory lifestyles.
But, what exactly is the witches’ brew?
It is no mystery potion but an ugly emotion of being spiteful, consumed with hatred and frustration : the evil mindset overtakes the being of an otherwise normal looking person and it can extend anywhere from being schizophrenic to deeper forms of dementia or sheer lunacy.
The perpetrators of crimes most heinous are all members of this unique category of homo sapiens. They indulge in mud-slinging, washing dirty linen in public, slander, gossiping and crass acts of defamation. They let no reason to overcome the overpowering sensational degenerative act of succumbing to a ‘voive in mind’ doling out instructions to act or behave in a certain manner on spur of the moment. It has nothing to do with age, social or economic background nor with educational qualifications or gender. Simply put by researchers and pundits of neuroscience, neurotic and horrid behaviour by such possessed creatures except for a genetic disorder,no plausible reason can be attributed for all such barbarian actions.
A most recent, glaring example has been of an advocate who was otherwise mild natured person murdering his aged mother.
Then, there was that noted psychiatrist who used to attack her spouse with knives and forks.
And, a cub journo who would engage in smear-campaigns and send out filthy e-mails with abusive language on imagined grouses.
Megalomaniacs too fall under this category.
Add to it the burgeoning instances of gold-digging females setting out to defame wealthy men of position for purposes of extortion and self-aggrandisement.
The harsh truth is that greed and avarice coupled with arrogance and pestilent attitude towards Life have consumed the imagination of such deviant chromosomes of the human race.
Solution lies more in chaining this madness and driving away such cockroaches from living rooms and mailboxes. ‘Stalking’ is a loose term used to categorise this trend. Ominous.
The witches’ brew is an amalgam of past failures, present frustration and future ambition. To build their future, these vermin in society try to bring others down. And,this notorious trend must be curbed with an iron hand. As experience has shown,in trying to reason out with the mad person, one turns mad.
Is this a sociological problem or a menace to be challenged? The day mankind learns to address this question, peace will prevail everywhere and a more harmonious world would be ushered in.
Psychological or psychomatic problems are neither meant to be shooed away nor such syndrome be allowed to engulf lives of the sane.
The witches’ brew can only be treated with a broomstick treatment. Sweep the dust off such culprit minds using the long arm of law. Where sedation still does not help still these stormed minds, invoke the long arm Lady Law to cage these chained souls.
To the unoriented with a myriad forms of tortures inflicted by such possessed minds, it is difficult to fathom the gravity of the matter. Terrorists and cold blooded killers spring from the witches’ brew. A breed to be socially boycotted if misadventures and misplaced sympathy were not to prove fatal.
The witches’ though would be consumed in the hatred they nurture and ill-will harboured endlessly. No reparation can give them salvation, ever.
