Henryville is a small place in Indiana State of Northern America. Henryville was a small place which born in 1850, it can be compared to any remote place in India, even today it’s population does not exceed 1500.

This story is of late 1800; there lived a poor family in Henryville, comprised of Father, Mother and 3 children. Even though they had poverty, everyone were happy with what they had. There came shocking News that father, who was the only pillar of house, was dead while working. Family situation turned miserable. Elder son was 5 years followed by a daughter of 3 years and a boy of a year old.

Mother decided to work and taught elder kid to cook. The boy started to cook at age of 6 and was responsible for caring of his younger siblings. He learnt new recipes and tried with his siblings. Meanwhile, he thought of going to school but due to poor family condition he left schooling at 6th grade. His mother got married to second husband. The stepfather was harsh. He used to beat him a lot, so boy left home and went to his uncle’s home. At his age of 15 he joined Army and he completed service as a mule handler in Cuba and then used his remaining early years to work a variety of jobs including an insurance salesman, boat pilot and farmer. He married at age of 18, but his wife left him early by seeing his frequency of changing job. Till his 40th age he worked in many fields.

In 1930, when he turned 40, he started cooking for travelers at his gas station in Corbin, Kentucky. The lack of a restaurant facility didn’t stopped him, as he served customers at his own dining table in the modest living quarters connected to the station. He tried different varieties with chicken and became famous in that region. As he became more popular, he moved into a 142 seat restaurant. Even there he worked with different recipe and he discovered that cooking chicken in a pressure fryer was much faster than pan frying.

This success came to an end in the early 1950s, when an interstate highway was planned to bypass Corbin. Knowing this, he sold all his assets. After paying his bills, his only source of income were his $105 social security checks. He was totally broken. He again thought of approaching all hotel owners with his new way of cooking chicken with the proposal that if the sales increase because of it, owner should pay the percentage of profit. But it was total failure as everyone started rejecting and even he was getting older day by day. He counted number of restaurants turned out his idea, and it was nearing 1000. Even then at age of 65 he used to travel in an old car, he used to sleep in it, and in morning he used to approach new restaurant.

Finally his day arrived. Colonel Sanders was refused 1009 times. He heard first yes on his 1010th attempt. 1010th restaurant signaled “Yes” for his idea. The agreement was that the colonel would receive a nickel out of each chicken dinner that was sold. In the first year of selling the product, restaurant sales more than trebled with 75% coming because of his idea. By 1964, he had amassed over 600 franchises throughout the United States and Canada. Today it’s a brand across the world, his restaurant is sign of development in cities.

His name is…….

Harland Sandersand his brand is Kentucky Fried Chicken

The question is not whether you a vegetarian or a Non-vegetarian all which count is will you knock the door of success after 1009 failures??

Never ever think your age is a barrier for your success keep working till you achieve.

To end with his quote…….

“I think a dream is just a suggestion to start something out, do something”
