Coffee

This is a beautiful love story which circulated vigorously in internet few years ago; some of us might have read it, many of us might not have read. I thought to write this with appropriate modification for those who are reading this for first time.

It was a Metro city, with busy traffic, busy people. It was New Year’s party arranged by a rich person, all were invited, a young and handsome guy of 26 year was also present in the party, there were many people of his age including both men and women.

As usual a beautiful girl of 24 year was also present, she was outstanding, her eyes were attractive, and many guys started chasing after her, while he was also a normal guy he too started chasing her, informal competition started between everyone. As his dress were not good, so nobody paid attention to him even she.

As party mood went high, all started to dance, some of them started drinking, this boy too went to coffee stall and started to mix coffee and started to ask waiter loudly

“Where is the salt??”

Waiter showed and this boy went there and added 2 spoons of salt to it.

This girl was observing him and got confused by his behaviour, she straight away went to him and asked him curiously, Why you added salt to coffee”?

He replied: “When I was a little boy, I was living near the sea, I liked playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my home town, I miss my home town so much, I miss my parents who are still living there“. While saying that his eyes were filled with tears, she was deeply touched listening to it.

They both became friends, they started to meet regularly, exchanged their mobile number. She found that actually he was a man who meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kindhearted, warm, careful. He was such a good person but she never missed an hour without speaking to him..

They passed three years like that, later got married even with parents’ objection, their married life was going superb at no instance they used to fight, and both were caring each other and, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee, as she knew that’s the way he liked it. After 40 years he passed away, doctor gave high BP was the reason for his death.

After cremating his body she came back home, she was cried a lot. After few days she started to clean his locker, she surprised to see a letter, she was confused to see what it was, and she opened and started to read it

My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie. This was the only lie I said to you—the salty coffee

Remember the first time we met? Everyone was chasing you, I wanted to drag your attention towards me so I called waiter loudly because of nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt it was hard for me to change so I just went ahead. I never thought that could be the start of our communication!

I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything..

Now I’m dead, I am not afraid of anything so I tell you the truth, I don’t like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste, But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for the second time, still want to know you and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again“.

Her tears made the letter totally wet, she spent her remaining life drinking coffee with salt.

Someday, someone asked her, What’s the taste of salty coffee?

She replied.

“It’s sweet”….

Here the story ends..
