The chanting of “Har Har Modi,Ghar Ghar Modi” has hurt Swami Swarupanand Ji Maharaj, Shankaracharya of Dwarikapeeth. He complained to RSS Chief Sri Mohan Bhagwat Ji in this respect.I am not aware what was the response of RSS Chief but BJP clarified that this slogan was not given by BJP. It reiterated that BJP`s slogan is “AB KI BAR MODI SARKAR“.
AAJ TAK carried out a programme at 04.00 PM from Varanasi on this slogan. One of the scholar said that Har Har Mahadev is a Mahavakya coming from ancient time and that it is a prayer to Lord Shiv to remove all obstacles in life. He further said once BJP said that it is not its slogan, chapter is closed. But Ms.Anjana Om Kashyap did not stop and continued to interview people. She asked Akhilesh Pratap Singh who as usual condemned this act of sloganeering.
Now the question is :- Are people justified in raising this slogan?
People reacted that since people are oppressed for the last 60 yrs. and Modi is seen as a man of development, such a slogan is justified. He said that it should not be connected with the religion. Others also justified it on various grounds. But people were enthused in favour of Modi.
Let us also examine it according to our scriptures. Hindus have diverse ways of worshiping unlike other religious denominations. Ways are diverse but goal is one, to reach the Almighty. Some worship Lord Shiv, whereas others worship Lord Vishnu in His different incarnations like Lord Ram or Lord Krishna. But they are not adverse to each other rather they compliment each other. Some worship Shagun Swarup but others worship Nirgun Swarup. It is a matter of own perception.
Bhawan Ved Vyas, apart from expanding four Vedas, created eighteen Puranas in praise of different deities who are followed by their devotees. One Purana is not in condemnation of others. They at times are seen as a bridge to connect each other. It again depends upon one`s own perception but do not create animosity amongst the devotees.
The Rig Veda says :- Sarve Khal Vidam Brahman. It means God is verily in every thing.
Isha Vasya Upanishad says:- Isa Vasya Midam Sarvam, Yad Kinch Jagtyam Jagat.It means God is present in every thing.
Srimad Bhagwad Gita says:- Ishwarah Sarva Bhutanam.It means God is present in every thing.
Such is the perception of our scriptures. If God is present in every being, why this kind of objection is being racked up particularly by Dharm Gurus. Our Constitution guarantees freedom of expression to every one, why this fundamental right is being tampered with.It should be left to the wisdom of people who have to exercise this right unless it is against public order or morality.
However, the controversy has been rested by Sri Narendra Modi himself who by tweeting said that he respects the sentiments of the people but would like them not to raise this slogan.

Well said Sirji! Har Har Mahadev means everybody is Mahadev. In all of us exists some element of God. So it’s not a wrong slogan.
It is right that Swami Swaroopanand has a perennial Modi dislike & is known to be close to Congress and not surprised that Swami commented on this slogan.
But I am of the opinion that man should not equated with GOD .
RSS avoided to equate the Man to equate with Guru and opted

Bhagwa Dhvaj s guru How We can accept that man (Modi ) be equated with God (Mahadev ,the Lord Shiva )
BJP may continue its aggressive campaign in another way but should avoid this slogan
Swami Swaroopanand has a perennial Modi dislike & is known to be close to Congress & Nehru/Gandhi dynasty. Informed readers would recall that a few months back, he slapped a reporter who asked the seer something about Modi. So, I am not surprised that Swami commented on this slogan.
I would not be surprised, if this issue has been instigated by opposition parties, with media adding fuel to the fire. Readers would recall news in some main stream dailies commenting on this slogan. My suspicion is further strengthened by headlines like ” Har-Har Mahadev – slogan or battle cry” appearing in some national dailies.
BJP would do well not to be perturbed by such distractions and continue its aggressive campaign.

बात कुछ समझ में नहीं आती. जब सार धर्म-निरपेक्ष लोगों का काम हिन्दू धर्म और इस से संभंधित चीज़ों में मं मेख निकालना है तो फिर मोदी को कुछ भी कहें. इन पोंगा पंडितों को क्या पता कि हम बनारसी क्या सोचते और कैसे सोचते है? यह बात तो केवल भोले बाबा और गंगा मैया को ही पता है या फिर खालिस बनारसी को|

या फिर गंगा में सुबह कि डुबकी लगाते समय बोलो “हर हर गंगे” और गंगा मैया से पवित्र जल से गीले देंह घाट की सीधी पर चढ़ते हुए पुकारो “हर हर गंगे” “हर हर महादेव” |
आज तो इस पार या उस पार की लगी है | या तो मोदी सरकार या देश गया नरकमें | डरना क्या? लगाओ नारा “हर हर मोदी-घर घर मोदी” | पिल जाओ और मार भगाओ गंगा मैया और बाबा विश्व्नाथ को अपमानित करने वालों को |
