Echoes of Ecosystem

Social media has altogether altered the meaning of ‘social interdependence’.

There was an era when people of all ages would mingle among units of households,joint families and community gatherings.

This was an ecosystem which held the biosphere pure and cohesive strength was the synergy and all round alignment. Black sheep and bad apples were easily spotted and wedded out with due care and diligently.

‘National accounting’ as a science, too described fair pictures of per capita income and societal contribution across the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of economic activity.

Today,as we falter on the edges of sanity and and an all-out war of the world in 2022 A. D.
it has come to the fore that ‘disinformation’ and ‘misinformation’have gained greater proportions of weaponry than even deadly missiles and drones.

Without dissecting the cause for #UkraineRussiaWar let us engage ourselves in the everyday battles being waged by one and all.

Without going into self-appeasing applications in vogue, may we concentrate on #Twitter which is accepted as the app which has dislodged newspapers and media outlets for faster dissemination of news, views and reports.

Anybody with a registered  ‘handle’ can act as a reporter, critic and an opinion-giver. The ‘blue-tick’syndrine is as a tick on the buffalo’s thick hide. It has no real impact except self idolatry given the uncanny manner of allowing these tick marks.

Social media has become so unruly with emergence of a class of handles called as ‘trolls’. These complement the existing machine generated handles called as ‘bots’.

Trolls could further be classified as positive and negative characters. The former seek to analyse a certain tweet which puts up an issue succinctly in 140-charaters. The latter are the handles of locust-like temperament and assault (not just attack) the targeted handle or remark,in a most exuberant manner but with lot of poison and sting in the byte.

Their bite is often deadly on account of spewing venom and overtly filled prejudiced mindsets filled to bring, with hatred or ire.

Mere disagreement ought not to generate lynch mentality of faceless, facetious, leaderless mobs.

Yet this is the genre of people who have sprouted as mushrooms. This certainly has been caused by the blue-tick categorization.

Just as you would take a stroll out in the garden or a public park filled with human beings,trees and other objects,trolls too ought to indulge in free expression of thought but not in vitriolic ways.

The demeaning demeanour should be frowned upon and castigated. No doubt the ‘mute’and ‘block’ options are there to use but that tantamounts to stifling of the voice of truth and the oppressed more than that of oppressors. The irony lies there indeed.

‘Stalking’ is a criminal offence and morally unsound. This abhorrent practice is a pernicious evil. But, stalkers seem to have the upper edge always justifying their wolf in sheep’s skin persona whenever confronted.

Stalkers claim to be friendly but hidden motives are starkly exposed to the trauma undergone victim handles.

‘Dolts’ as well ‘Idiots’ are like thunderbolts. You do not know where they appear from nor can you reach up to their I. Q. – levels.

Tolerating these handles is impossible and distancing oneself from them is frowned upon by their patrons on the ‘SM-platform.

Compoundinh the woes of any enthusiastic participant to the machine -driven trending subjects of discussion are the alogrythms which curtail, restrict or suspend ability of the account to ‘exist with freedom’.

Lunatics may be cured by connecting to the social media platform but there is the ever-present, real danger of truly sane beings being driven mad or labelled as loonies by hate-spewing gangs and hypocrites masquerading in anonymous way.

Invisible as ghosts, they can destroy better senses of those they target as though vampires and ghouls are lurking all around you. Finer sensibilities are affected and it is next to impossible to fine-tune the wise persons holding sensitivity as the composition of their DNA.

‘ Ecosystem ‘ has today becone a political term and ‘bio-weapons’ is in common usage during an unfortunate conflagration in real world.

The seeds are sown on social-media platforms well before the troops are moved for military operations.

So much of speculation, disinformation and misinformation on peace – talks as though these trolls,bots,dolts,idiots and evil stalkers were actually participating in those mediation-efforts.

Ecosystems can be rebuilt by rectifying mistakes in existing policies, by taking swift remedial measures and to reinforce faith in the ‘rules of morality reflected and recognised by legal processes’.

It is one thing to blame a gargantine ecosystem and it is another thing to cry ‘ wolf-wolf’  while being part of that ecosystem.
